'Ugly Aur Pagli' is out here. The film slips on many counts for which audience throng the theatres. Mallika Sherawat spanks and slaps Ranvir Shorey 99 times. Ugly has shrilling music and racing songs and no storyline. Not a recommendable watch!

 

Ugly Aur Pagli (UAP) is a movie dealing with matriarchal master-slave relationship between the duo protagonists, without any vulgarity hanging around sexual connnotations.
 
It is indeed a surprise that despite Sherawat’s omnipresence in UAP, thanks to its director, Sachin Khot, it is devoid of sexual undertones. How funny rather, Sherawat showers 99 incessant slaps throughout the film on Shorey’s cheeks, which do not get red even at once! Nothing to laugh either. The man in Shorey is just like a dormant volcano – he sustains his submissive oddity, no logic, no reason to support his stance. A man poked, goaded and spanked by his supposed girlfriend. It’s pitiful. No substance to munch inside a theatre hall.

 
Ranvir Shorey is Kabir in the film. He is brought up as a ’lass’ by his parents. That makes him an effeminate man. This gives us a hint why he lets himself get bullied by cranky Kuhu, none other than his opposite character, Mallika Sherawat.
 
Kabir is seen putting on high-heeled ladies footwear, riding bicycle without seat, roams around everywhere in a petticoat. I really scratched my head when I tried to decode why actually Kabir takes Kuhu’s crap? Kuhu does not even propose to him and above all what the pre-release headlines of UAP cried out..., “Mallika kissing Shorey endlessly...” but, here, Kuhu does not like the idea of rucking up with Shorey! What amuses her is writing bizarre futuristic scripts which she wants him to sell to Bollywood biggies like Yash Ram Films. By intermission the film runs into confusion track.
 
Then the director applies flashback technique to leverage his work, which he himself fails to accept as nonsense. UAP recedes into sepia frames showing why Kuhu became so absurd.
 
And so the end is poor – crying for help! Not digestible too. Kuhu, the Bollywood certified sex siren Mallika Sherawat puts on a salwar suit!
 
Then the winding moments of the film shows what average film goers wait for – ’liplock’ scene. That makes some sense of Mallika’s presence in the film. Her value has grown now. She gives a rare-to-be-seen-again single smooch that too after slapping Shorey 99 times.
 
The pace of the film is slack, lacking in any reliable storyline. In Mithya, Shorey was superb in his acting, basically a character artiste, he is forced to undergo the tortures of such cinematic crap!
 
Nothing is bearable. Please do watch this flick but at your own risk!
