Bhalla distributes compensation to 1947 migrants in J&K
Giving details about the initiatives taken by the Government for rehabilitation of 1947 displaced persons from PoK, the Minister said that they are now receiving Rs. 30,000 per kanal instead of Rs. 5000 per kanal as land deficiency compensation.
JAMMU AND KASHMIR Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that the Coalition Government is working out a comprehensive plan for ensuring proper rehabilitation of 1947 displaced families of PoK, adding that the basic amenities in their existing colonies will be upgraded.

Addressing a public meeting, after distributing compensation worth Rs. 27.50 lakh for land deficiency among 26 displaced families of Rohi Morh in Lower Gaddigarh, here this afternoon, the Minister said that under the new plan, infrastructure works will be taken up to improve road connectivity, health, education, drinking water, electricity and drainage facilities in the established refugee colonies in the state besides providing the families with compensation for the land deficiency.
 
Chairman, Health and Sanitation, Satesh Sharma, Custodian Jammu, Abdul Majid Wani, Corporators and other senior officers of Revenue and Custodian departments were present on the occasion.   
 
Bhalla said this was the first time that such a camp was organized for distribution of compensation to the displaced families of 1947 and assured that the remaining cases will also be settled in the days to come. He said that the government was fully aware of the problems of displaced families and every effort is afoot to mitigate them in a phased manner. He said that all the Deputy Commissioners have been asked to prepare a list of displaced families in their respective jurisdictions so that compensation can be disbursed among them at the earliest.
 
Giving details about the initiatives taken by the Government for rehabilitation of 1947 displaced persons from PoK, the Minister said that  they are now receiving Rs. 30,000 per kanal instead of Rs. 5000 per kanal as land deficiency compensation as per the new directions of the Government. The compensation amount ceiling has been fixed to a maximum of Rs.1,50,000 per 5 kanals and above for land deficiency to the displaced persons, he added.
 
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated one kilometre link road at Dashmesh Nagar, Digiana, completed at a cost of Rs. 8 lakh by the R&B department.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that the focus of the Government is to improve connectivity of the far-flung areas with towns and cities which is imperative for taking development to these neglected areas. He said that the State Government is slush with funds with the approval of Rs. 5500 crore plan outlay from the Centre, adding that stress will be laid on creating infrastructure facilities in far-flung and neglected areas of the State.
