Bharti Airtel to counter Reliance JioPhone; plans to introduce 4G android smartphone for Rs 2500
A month after Chairman of the Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani announced to launch the 4G feature smartphones at an effective zero price, India's largest telecommunications services company Bharti Airtel Limited is all set to make a debut in the android phones market by introducing its first-ever 4G smartphone before Diwali at just Rs 2,500 to compete with JioPhone.

The 4G handset of Airtel will be based on a popular Android operating system, which is ready to be co-promoted by India's top telecom company but it will not be sponsored by Airtel. The telco will permit users to download all apps available on the Google Play app store.

"Airtel's 4G device will have a bigger screen, better camera and better battery performance than other featured phone," said a senior industry executive who is aware of Airtel's plans.

Earlier, Reliance Jio had gripped the Indian market after unveiling its 4G android smartphones, offering life-long free voice calls, facilities of text messaging on voice command, cable to connect the device to view content on TV, unlimited data under Jio 'Dhan Dhana Dhan' offer at 'zero prices' (available for pre-booking on paying deposit of just Rs 1,500 that will be refunded against returning the phone).
