Dharm is being screened in IFFI. It will also be showcased at various International Festivals like the Cancun Film Festival, Mexico; Asian Film Festival of first films –Singapore; and the Palms Spring Festival, California.
AFTER A SUCCESSFUL debut screening at the 60th Cannes International Film Festival 2007, Director Bhavna Talwar’s movie Dharm, the story of a Pundit’s journey from ritualism to reality has been selected for the 38th International Film Festival of India to start on November 23 in Goa.

International Film Festival of India aims at providing a common platform to filmmakers and cine-goers to enjoy internationally acclaimed films and to appreciate new trends and techniques being adopted by different countries.

Dharm has been selected to be screened in IFFI from 160 films. It will also be showcased at various International Festivals like the Cancun Film Festival, Mexico; Asian Film Festival of first films –Singapore; and the Palms Spring Festival, California.

Excited at Dharm being screened at IFFI and other acclaimed International Film Festivals, Bhavna said, “I’m overjoyed! Dharm being part of the Indian Panorama is a matter of tremendous pride. These are the showcase films of India and will travel to many festivals.  A large and varied audience will get to see the film all over the world. While my film explores religious undercurrents in India, it also aims to spread the word that irrespective of where we come from, what religion we follow, Humanity is every individuals prime duty.  In a world full of terror and violence, Dharm conveys a message of hope and shows to the world that all is not lost.”

Dharm, released in June this year, has Pankaj Kapur and Supriya Pathak in the lead. The film is a story about a Hindu Pundit whose beliefs are questioned by the arrival of a little boy.

WSG Pictures was started with the aim of producing movies for the international market. The first film of the production house - Dharam was the closing film at the India section of Tous Les Cinemas du Monde at the Cannes International Film Festival 2007. The showcase at Cannes is a testimony to the fact that content is king and that the company has emerged triumphant by making a movie for the audience it aimed at reaching.

WSG Pictures is an organization that offers filmmakers a platform to be distinctive and create cinema with a message. This distinguishes them from the current set of Indian producers who largely seek to look at theatrical opportunities only in the Indian and Non-resident Indian market and prefer working in the semi - structured financial model only.

WSG Pictures is currently producing two other films.
