Bhikku-In-Charge of Bodh Gaya center Ven. K Medhankara Thero transferred to Sarnath
The Joint Secretary of the Maha Bodhi Society of India and outgoing Bhikku-In-Charge of Bodh Gaya center, Ven. K Medhankara Thero will move to Sarnath center of the Maha Bodhi Society of India in the same capacity and will be replaced by Ven. H Saddhatissa Thero, who was until now Bhikku-In-Charge of Lumbini center.
Most Venerable K Medhankara Thero had been Bhikku-In-Charge for three years and also served as Assistant Bhikku-In-Charge for ten years in Bodh Gaya centre.

Among other major transfers Ven. Y Rahula Thero has now been appointed as Bhikku-In-Charge in Kolkata, Headquarters of the Maha Bodhi Society of India. The Maha Bodhi Society of India also appointed Ven. B Nanda Thero as Bhikku-In-Charge at Lumbini center.

The Maha Bodhi Society of India was founded by Anagarika Dhammapala in May, 1891 for the purpose of resuscitation Buddhism in India and of restoring the ancient Buddhist shrines at Buddha Gaya, Sarnath and Kushinara.

Having its Headquarters in Kolkata its main attention has been paid in the restoration and revival of the glory and sanctity of Bodh Gaya. For this he founded the Society's first center at Buddha Gaya.Then centers were established in Sarnath, Sanchi, Lucknow, Orissa, New Delhi, Chennai Ajmer, etc.

Under the guidance of Ven. P Seewalee Thero, the present General Secretary of the Maha Bodhi Society of India, Buddhagaya centre is extending a commendable service to the Society and the Buddhist community around the globe.
