The latest to add to the line is Bhupen Hazarika's wife claiming that Lata Mangeshkar had the hots for her ex and late husband and they used to spend nights together at his place couped up in a room.

Mangeshkar fans might not like the allegations, which also add that whenever the singer was in Tollygunge, she used to come to Hazarika's place and spend time with him.

It was one of the reasons why Priyamvada Patel (wife of Hazarika) left him. Not only Lata's fans but Hazarika's long term friend and partner, Kalpana Lajmi also fumed at the allegations and exclaimed them to be untrue.

Patel while talking to an Assamese channel said, “She used to come and they used to be together the whole night in one of the three bedrooms. She was crazy about him. He told me one day, ‘Look Priyam, in India, if a musician wants to come up, his songs have to be sung by Lata Mangeshkar.”

The power of Mangeshkar is well known in the film industry and so is her hold on the then music directors but many people will not appreciate the allegations now, more so when Hazarika is no more.

Priyamvada Patel was speaking in an interview on Hazarika's death anniversary and many would have appreciated if she would have let bygones be bygones. Why protest now when there is nothing more to be done? Patel also said that the legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika mentioned Mangeshkar in his autobiography, Moi Eti Jajabor’ (I am a Nomad), which is not true as per bollywoodmantra.com.
