Big B on Vinod Khanna's death: Saw our forty-eight-year-old relationship going up in flames
Parvarish, Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqaddar Ka Sikander, Khoon Pasina and a few more films, saw the coming together of two legends on-screen and giving the Indian cinema some of its finest works.

They were Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna. Albeit, these two were supposed to be rivals as and when senior Bachchan was alighting the stairs of stardom, it was Vinod Khanna who gave him a very tough fight, but only a few were aware of the bond these two shared.

In the words of Amitabh Bachchan, it was a relationship of 48 years. But on Thursday, this relationship came to an end after Vinod lost his battle against cancer and left a deep void in Amitabh Bachchan's life for whom he was more of a friend than anything else.

When the news of his Vinod Khanna's death broke, a shocked Amitabh left a media event and headed to his home to pay his last respects. Later in the day, a forlorn Amitabh wrote an emotional message. "Respect and Affection! Today is the day when I saw a 48-year-long relationship going up in flames. So, today I find every word of your creation a mirror to the truth of human life. (referring to a poem penned down by Prasoon Joshi)," wrote Amitabh on Twitter along with the poem.

Amitabh also wrote a lengthy note for his beloved friend whom he addresses as a 'big star but with selfless concern for others' on his blog. From recalling the time when he first met him to getting close to him to such an extent that Vinod Khanna became a support system to him, Amitabh mentioned it all.
