Big FM launches initiatives on Ganesh Chaturthi
BIG FM celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi with a host of on-air and on-ground events. A unique event called Comedy Ganesha is being organised in Bangalore since Ganesha is well known for his talent, wit and wisdom. What better way to worship Him?

GANESH CHATURTHI is a festival of the masses with the youth of the city still harbouring pride in traditions like displaying Ganesh idols at home, preparing traditional sweets, celebrating with relatives and purchasing new clothes. Youth associations in different areas are also involved in putting up Pandals, arranging live performances and trying to compete against each other.

During this festival season, the BIG 92.7 FM, in association with various local bodies, has lined up tons of interesting interactive initiatives, a mix of on-air talk shows, contests, call-ins and on-ground events centred on Ganesh Chathurthi, across its stations. BIG FM RJs will also visit the various Pandals across the city to interact with the people and provide live updates on the activities.

In Bangalore, the station is organising a unique talent hunt called ‘Comedy Ganesha’. This is a contest to identify the best comedian in Bangalore since Ganesha is known for his talent, wit and wisdom. The top-three short-listed candidates will perform on-air between September 4 and 8, and request the listeners to vote for them. Based on listener ratings, the ultimate winner will be picked on September 9. The winner will then get a chance to play a role in a Kannada TV serial comedy, called Point Parimala.

BIG FM, Surat, is organising a huge on-ground social campaign during this season where a BIG hoarding depicting a Ganesha holding a slate in his hand, will be erected. This slate will sport different messages like Beti Bachao, Global warming, etc, during the 10-day festival. At a live booth near this hoarding, BIG FM RJ’s will host their shows. Local celebrities will be invited to select the best Ganesha idol and the best Pandal across the city. Additionally, live updates on the visarjan will be provided from various locations.

BIG FM, Vadodara, has tied up with the biggest Ganpati Pandal in the city. A human character wearing the costume of a mouse will seek blessings from the visitors, at the Pandal. A giant screen will show prominent Ganpati idols from other locations of the city and bring out the highlights of the day across the said locations. This will also be aired regularly.

"As the No 1 FM station in the country, we are continuously pushing the envelope in terms of content for our listeners. This festival season, we will showcase customised programming which includes special capsules celebrating the festival, interesting trivia, places to shop in and so on to bring out the true spirit of Ganesh Chaturthi" says Nirupam Sonu, National VP - Programming, BIG 92.7 FM.
