Today is the fifth and biggest round of India's nine-phase Lok Sabha elections. A total of 16.61 crore people will exercise their voting rights today. So far polling had been conducted in 111 constituencies in four phases.

(Congress), Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule and Lalu Prasad's
eldest daughter Misa Bharti, Sachin Pilot (Congress), Jyotiraditya
Scindhia (Congress) figure among the 1,769 candidates in the fifth of
the nine-phased elections.
The 12 states where
elections will take place are Madhya Pradesh
(10 Lok Sabha seats),
Maharashtra (19 Constituencies), Manipur, Jharkhand
Constituencies), West Bengal
(4 constituencies), Karnataka
constituencies), Odisha (11 Lok Sabha and 77 Assembly
(7 constituencies) and Uttar Pradesh
Though BJP is expecting
to do well in many places like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya
Pradesh, but today is a crucial day for them as the party needs to
prove itself in UP and Bihar, as in 2013 elections they have lost it
to the Congress.
A strong performance in
UP, Maharashtra and Bihar is very essential for BJP to come into
power, as it accounts for 168 seats.
