Biggest phase of voting today: 121 Lok Sabha seats across 12 states
Today is the fifth and biggest round of India's nine-phase Lok Sabha elections. A total of 16.61 crore people will exercise their voting rights today. So far polling had been conducted in 111 constituencies in four phases.

Nandan Nilekani (Congress), Maneka Gandhi (BJP), former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda (JD-S), Union Minister Veerappa Moily (Congress), Srikant Jena (Congress), Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule and Lalu Prasad's eldest daughter Misa Bharti, Sachin Pilot (Congress), Jyotiraditya Scindhia (Congress) figure among the 1,769 candidates in the fifth of the nine-phased elections.

The 12 states where elections will take place are Madhya Pradesh (10 Lok Sabha seats), Maharashtra (19 Constituencies), Manipur, Jharkhand (6 Constituencies), West Bengal (4 constituencies), Karnataka (28 constituencies), Odisha (11 Lok Sabha and 77 Assembly constituencies), Bihar (7 constituencies) and Uttar Pradesh (11 Lok Sabha seats).

Though BJP is expecting to do well in many places like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, but today is a crucial day for them as the party needs to prove itself in UP and Bihar, as in 2013 elections they have lost it to the Congress.

A strong performance in UP, Maharashtra and Bihar is very essential for BJP to come into power, as it accounts for 168 seats.
