Bihar Board scam: Main accused found dead in mysterious circumstances
The main accused in the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) 8 crore tender scam, Diwakar Prasad, was found dead yesterday under mysterious circumstances.

Prasad was found lying dead on the road in front of his house in Panchwati Nagar. Prasad's family has however alleged that he was killed by the cops by pushing him from the rooftop. The police officials have denied the allegations and claimed that Prasad jumped off the building after realising that the police team was there to arrest him.

Prasad was the main accused in a case regarding irregularities in floating tender for supply of answer sheets of the Intermediate examination to BSEB. His printing press in Patna, Smrit Printing Mill, was earlier raided by the special investigation team (SIT) that is probing the scam. The police has also seized a few bundles of the answer sheets from his printing press.

Based on allegations laid by Prasad's family, a case has been registered at the Bahadurpur police station by Patna Police against a sub-inspector and five other policemen who had gone to arrest Prasad. The police has also obtained CCTV footage from nearby buildings.

The Bihar topper scam was exposed on May 31, 2016 when the Board's toppers were interviewed by television channels and were found unable to answer even basic questions.

Ruby Rai, the topper in Humanities stream had pronounced Political Science as 'Prodigal Science' and described it as a subject related to cooking.

Saurabh Shrestha, the topper of science stream had said that aluminium is the most reactive element. After the video of their interviews went viral, the government had formed a three-member SIT to investigate the scam.
