Bihar: Family carries dead body in plastic bag after being denied ambulance
In a shocking incident, which took place in Bihar, a family had to carry the body of a person, who drowned in river Ganga, in plastic bag as they were denied ambulance by the government hospital in Katihar district.
The relatives of the deceased, who drowned in the river 14 days ago,had brought the body to government hospital in Katihar for post-mortem. Initially, doctors here said that post-mortem will take place in the same hospital.

But, after keeping the decomposed body in the hospital for 24 hours, the doctors allegedly asked the relatives to take the body to Bhagalpur for the post-mortem.

When the relatives asked for an ambulance to shift the body from Katihar hospital to Bhagalpur hospital, the hospital authorities denied them. The hospital authorities denied to help the family even after knowing about their poor economic condition.

After this, the relatives had to carry the mortal remains of the deceased in a plastic bag.

This is not the first case of apathy being shown by a government hospital towards patients in the country. Recently, in Odisha, a man had to walk for 10 kilometers with his wife's body after she died of tuberculosis at a government hospital in Kalahandi district.

Recently, an ailing boy died on his father's shoulder in Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh after the government run Lala Lajpat Rai hospital denied admitting the patient.
