Bihar govt asks people to avoid cooking and worshipping between 9 am to 6 pm to prevent fire incidents
In last few days many fire incidents had taken place in Bihar resulting into the loss of lives and property. In a bid to prevent such incidents from taking place in future now the State government has appealed its citizens in villages that they should avoid cooking and religious activities like 'Yagna' between 9 am to 6 pm.

So far in various fire incidents in the State around 60 people have died with 13,000 houses getting destroyed. Bihar is in the grip of severe heatwave conditions with temperatures crossing 40 degree Celsius.

How serious the Sate government is towards the compliance of this advisory could be understood from the fact that anyone found violating the new rule could be punished under Section 51 of the Disaster Management law. Under this law a violator could be awarded one year jail term or have to pay a fine or both.

The advisory has been issued to people residing in villages in the wake of increase in fire incidents due to westerly winds this month. State's Disaster Management Department has also issued advertisements in local newspapers to make village population aware of this advisory.

The advisory issued by the government has received mixed response. It has been opposed as well as welcomed.
