A MUSIC programme at Gandhi maidan in Patna on Friday evening (November 6) turned tragic when the pandal, where the show was being held collapsed, injuring ten people, two of them seriously.

The programme was a Bhojpuri music programme, called Sur – Sangram, featuring popular artists from Bihar, including Ravi Kishan and Manoj Tiwari. Massive crowds had come to the event to see their popular stars performing live. The performance was organised by a local TV channel.

Reportedly, RJD President and former Railways minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav, LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan and several politicians from the state were also present at the function.

The incident, according to police sources, occurred when many fans of Kishan and Tiwari tried to move towards the stage, in order to get a better look at the duo. The pandal received a lot of pressure from this surging crowd and collapsed.

As the injured were admitted to the Patna Medical College and hospital, the programme continued.
