A mob of irate students had attacked the Shramjeevi Express at Bihta Railway station, 35 km from Patna, after an altercation with Government Railway police for travelling without tickets.
Railway officials said that the students had boarded the air-conditioned bogies of the train at Ara and forcibly occupied the reserved seats. However, when the GRP personnel stopped them from forcibly occupying the reserved seat and asked them to get off at Bihta, the students clashed with them.
The students, however, claimed that police officials were asking for money from them, which led to the protests.
