Biocon India to become first company in the world to manufacture oral insulin
The oral insulin new drug labelled as IN-105 is in an advanced stage of research and hopefully within the next 3-4 years this drug could become a reality and it will be a huge recognition of innovation for an Indian company.
MS KIRAN Mazumdar Shaw, Chairman and Managing Director of Biocon, India, has gone on record saying that if everthing goes well with her company's Research & Development activities, Biocon may become the first company in the world to manufacture oral insulin.

Biocon had said it would retain the exclusive rights to IN-105 in India. Biocon has a major share in insulin market throughout the world.
Hundreds of thousands of people across the world suffer from diabetes and insulin therapy plays a key role in its treatment. It is normally administered through injections, but once oral insulin production gets a breakthrough, it would come as a big relief to diabetic people.
