Birdwatchers attacked in Gurgaon by 'baba'
The Priest of Banidham Temple was accused of assaulting some birdwatchers at the Mangar Forest bordering Gurgaon this Sunday. He was later arrested by Faridabad Police on Monday. Around 7:30 in the morning, when the tourists refused to move out of the forest, the 'Baba', as known by the locals, attacked them with sticks and rods.

As was reported by timesofindia.com, the collaborators along with Bhagwan Das (baba), 62, were charged under section 323(assault), 506(threat to kill) and 34(common intent) of the Indian Penal Code.

The FIR was registered with Surajkund Police Station. One of the victims was left with a broken arm and the other with head injury. The other four members arrived immediately after the accident but, by then Baba fled with his mob. The baba was earlier accused of cutting down trees.

He was also accused of trespassing on forest land by a former forest conservator of the area, but no action was taken. The baba is backed by the Sarpanch and the villagers who affirm strongly that baba has never carried out such activities before. The villagers also said that there is another group working against baba, who brought the foreign tourists to the Mangar Forest. When asked as to why did he attack the birdwatchers, he had no explanations.
