Birth of Telangana: Chandrasekhar Rao takes oath as state's first CM
Putting an end to the decade old struggle, the state of Telangana has come into existence as India's 29th state. 63-year old K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who led the movement for the separate state since 2001, took oath as the first Chief Minister of the newly formed state.

The new state of Telangana will comprise of 10 districts, namely Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda. Hyderabad will serve as a new joint capital for both Telangana and Andhra for 10 years. Currently Governor of Andhra Pradesh ESL Narasimhan has been given additional charge of Telangana. 

“We achieved Telangana. The long cherished dream of the people, and mine too, has come true. It’s now a new beginning. Like the Telangana movement, there is a need for another movement for reconstruction and development of Telangana state,” said TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.

The president rule imposed in United Andhra Pradesh has been revoked to felicitate swearing in of a new government in the state. However the central rule will continue in the residual Andhra Pradesh till TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu takes charge as Chief Minister on 8th June.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the residents of Telangana and assured complete support to the people and the government. He tweeted saying:
