According to sources, TDP sources started its grouse against BJP after the later announced former union minister D Purandeswari as its candidate from Rajpampet Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday evening. In fact, BJP want her to contest from Vijayawada and desperately tried for this seat in alliance. But TDP bluntly refuted BJP claims.
Incidentally, she is elder daughter of TDP founder N T Rama Rao and sister of Chandrababu Naidu's wife. As she has been enjoying good reputation among public, political sources felt he is uneasy towards popularity of any member of NTR family.
Even he tried in vain to prevent his brother-in-law and film star Nandamuri Balakrishna to contest in the assembly elections. He is brother of Purandeswari. But due to pressures, he was forced to concede Hindupur seat for Balakrishna.
According to sources, Chandrababu Naidu was also unhappy with the BJP decision to field prominent industrialist Gokaraju Ranga Raju from Narsapur Lok Sabha constituency. He is the vice president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and close to Sangh Parivar.
According to sources the BJP leadership's decision to drop industrialist-turned-politician Raghurama Krishnam Raju and allot the Narsapur ticket to Gokaraju Ranga Raju did not go down well with Naidu as Krishnam Raju is considered close to his family.
Prakash Javedkar, who reached Hyderabad today to discuss with Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that how can TDP leaders can interfear into seats allotted to BJP as part of alliance between two parties. “It is our choice to select candidate’s best of our choice”, he observed.
BJP Andhra Pradesh unit president Dr K Hari Babu also said that TDP cannot dictate on select of candidates. Stating that they will abide by the decision of party national leadership, he said “if they want we are ready to field candidates in all constituencies and to go alone in the polls”. Saturday is the last day for filing nominations in Seemandhra region.
