The BJP in a shocking move, gave marching orders to senior party leader Jaswant Singh for writing a book praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah. His removal from primary membership of the party was announced by BJP chief Rajnath Singh at the party conclave
THE THREE-DAY BJP introspection meet in Shimla began on a dramatic note on Wednesday (August 19), with the party giving a marching order to senior party leader Jaswant Singh for writing a book praising Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
An MP from Darjeeling, Jaswant Singh's removal from primary membership of the party was announced by BJP chief Rajnath Singh at the party conclave. The BJP chief said that he had called Jaswant Singh and asked him not to come to the 'Chintan Baithak'.
Beginning on a fiery note, the three-day BJP conclave will discuss the party affairs in the aftermath of the Lok Sabha defeat. Twenty five senior party leaders including party chief Rajnath Singh, LK Advani are present in the 'Chintan Baithak' to discus the recent Lok Sabha debacle, the internal differences in the party as well as the virtual revolt led by former Rajasthan CM Vasundhra Raje.
Sources said that BJP's defeat in the national polls is likely to remain the main agenda on the first day of the meeting. It is expected that party leaders will discuss today the Bal Apte Committee report, which has been prepared on the basis of inputs received from the state units.
Bal Apte report summarises the reasons behind the party's defeat in the General Elections.
In the next two days, BJP is expected to formulate the future course of action and the strategy to be adopted by the party. An action plan and strategy is likely to be worked out for the forthcoming elections in Haryana and Maharashtra.
It is also likely that the diffidence shown by Vasundhra Raje, who almost orchestrised a virtual revolt against party president Rajnath Singh will figure at the introspection meeting.
As part of the fresh strategy for expansion, the BJP is likely to discuss the ways and means for reviving the party in Uttar Pradesh in Haryana. Expansion of its base in South India will also be one of the major issues during the three-day session.
.Expressing his/her view is fundamental right of citizen of India. It is wrong on part of BJP to take action against Mr. Jaswant Singh for exercising his fundamental right.
Mr. Singh has made it clear that this is his view, so should have nothing to do with BJP as such. If anybody feels that his views are wrong (which could be proved in court of law) and it hearts faith of people, could take him into court. No way is this a political issue which warrants a political action.
