AFTER A complaint made by Jamia VC, Mushirul Hasan to the Election Commission of India, BJP has defended its stand to issue the anti-Jamia advertisement in a section of the media.
BJP s chief ministerial candidate V K Malhotra has defended BJP and said that "There was nothing wrong in it. We have not said anything wrong,"
Earlier the Jamia administration had approached the Election Commission against the advertisement put out by the party and claimed it vague and defamatory. Addressing the media, Malhotra said those involved in terror attacks were being "glamourised" for vote-bank politics which is "very unfortunate".
"Terrorists are being glamourised for vote bank politics. They don’t talk about sacrifice of the police official who laid his life for the country, he added
In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami, Jamia Vice Chancellor Mushirul Hasan had denied using any funds for defending terror accused and claimed that the advertisement was a "deliberate distortion of facts".
"Jamia has not spent a single paisa from its resources on the two students implicated in the Batla House incident," added the Jamia VC in the letter.
The decision to extend legal help was taken as it felt it was their "moral obligation" to protect its students until they are proved guilty, the varsity had said.
Meanwhile an unknown Muslim organization Hussaini Mission has come to rescue Jamia on the matter. There was nothing wrong in Jamia’s stand. "Why are they not talking about defending Sadhvi Pragya and so called Shankracharya Pandey." said Kamal Hyder, president Hussaini Mission. They are trying to communalise the issue he added.
