BJP-led govt falls as JMM withdraws support
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the party notorious for infamous JMM bribery episode, has withdrawn support to Arjun Munda led BJP government, pushing the state for a hung assembly and possible mid-term election.

LOOKING FOR support from such black-mail allies by national parties has become unavoidable reality in today’s politics which can and should be done away with by legislating new norms.

Prime Minister/Chief Minister should be elected by secret and compulsory vote of all members of lower House through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) on nominations signed by at least 34-percent members.

Such an elected leader may be removed by the same process but with compulsion of naming alternate leader in the same motion. Even Speaker and Deputy Speaker should be elected simultaneously with Prime Minister/Chief Ministers in the same manner.

To avoid members racing for ministerial-berths, system should be made to select only those persons as Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and Ministers who might not have contested any election in last six years.

System will induce quality in governance system and will largely reduce expenses because experts rather than professional politicians will get ministerial berths with legislatures playing bigger role of king-makers with vigilant eye on such selected ministers. Hung assemblies and mid-term polls will automatically vanish. Even ministerial-strength can then be practically restricted to ten-percent strength of lower House because of automatic abolition of bargains required for ministry formation.
