Film star Pawan Kalyan, who announced about his party formation on February 14, reportedly met TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu and also some BJP leaders, and held preliminary discussions on forging alliances. He is expected to meet Narendra Modi in a day or two.
Giving credence to reports of a possible poll alliance with BJP, Chandrababu Naidu said he was in the process of forging poll alliance with a party “through, which the interest of both Seemandhra and Telangana states could be safeguarded”. “I am trying for an alliance keeping the interests of Telugu people in mind. We want a government that can help us develop our state,” he remarked.
On the other hand, BJP former president M Venkaiah Naidu too indicated a tie-up between the TDP and the BJP, saying, “Our party will join hands with any party other than the Congress. Our stand on alliances will be announced within a week.”
According to sources, Pawan Kalyan is intending to contest in 2 or 3 Lok Sabha seats, besides 15 assembly seats. Even, BJP identified the number of seats it can claim in case of alliances. BJP sources clarified that alliances with any party would be in both the regions.
