BJP opts for secret ballot to sort out Bihar crisis
BJP on Sunday went for a secret ballot before taking a decision on the removal of Modi as the deputy chief minister. 53 MLAs and 14 MLCs from Bihar cast their votes at the party headquarters on whether they were satisfied with Modi's leadership.

IN AN effort to sort out crisis in Bihar unit, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday (June 8) opted for a ’secret ballot’ before taking a decision on the demand for the removal of Sushil Kumar Modi as the deputy chief minister of the state.

The secret ballot came as a surprise to 53 BJP MLAs and 14 MLCs from Bihar, who cast their votes at the party headquarters in the capital on whether they were satisfied with Modi’s leadership in the state and if not, who should be the next leader.

However, two MLAs, Ajay Singh and Sunil Kumar, did not attend the meeting called by the central leadership and did not vote.

The party high command is expected to come to a decision on the matter by Monday (June 9), after the counting of ballots.

The meeting was held under the observation of central leaders Sushma Swaraj and Venkaiah Naidu.

MLAs in Bihar unit have been pressing for Modi’s removal as deputy chief minister and had requested for the secret ballot fearing action against them if Modi is retained.
