BJP sacks UP vice-president Dayashankar Singh for his remarks against Mayawati
BJP has sacked its vice-president in Uttar Pradesh, Dayashankar Singh over his remarks against BSP Chief, Mayawati. Singh's remarks had led to an uproar in the Parliament. He had compared Mayawati to a 'prostitute'.

This development came after Singh had apologised for his remark. Later, Singh also said that "Mayawati is a big leader, I can't say such a thing about anyone. I apologise for my remark. I can't even think about Mayawatiji in such a way. She has reached here after a lot of struggle."

Yesterday, in the Parliament, Mayawati had said that "These kind of derogatory statements show that BJP is frustrated with the growing public support for BSP."

Various BJP leaders including Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley and UP BJP chief have apologised to Mayawati for the remarks made by Singh.

"Dayashankar Singh's remarks are not acceptable, therefore we have removed him from all party posts," BJP chief in Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya, told news agency ANI.

Singh's remarks were condemned by party leaders across party lines including Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad, DMK's Kanimozhi, Congress' Kumari Selja and Renuka Chowdhury, TK Rangarajan of the Left, and Satish Chandra Mishra of BSP

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa said that removing Singh from his post was not enough for BJP, he should be sacked from the party.

BSP leader Satish Mishra said the party would lodge a complaint against Singh and drag him to court.

Mayawati has decided to file a formal police complaint against the BJP leader. She also demanded that BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief Amit Shah should discuss the matter, expel Singh from the party and take action against him.
