BJP seeks public apology from Mani Shankar Aiyar for his 'animal' comments
BJP has termed the comments of the Congress MP Mani Shankar Aiyar, in which he had compared opposition MPs with animals, as shocking, and demanded public apology from him. Samajwadi Party, one of the allies of Congress has also criticized Aiyar's comments and said that it will move privilege motion against the Congress leader.
NOTABLY, THE Congress MP from Rajya Sabha Mani Shankar Aiyar during a TV debate of deadlock in Parliament over the issue of FDI, had compared the behavior of opposition MPs with animals.
BJP Spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy while speaking to news agency ANI sought public apology from Aiyyar. “Well we agree that there should not be obstructions in the way of smooth working of the parliament. But does this give right to Aiyyar to call MPs as animals. Mani Shankar Aiyar is an MP who is not even elected to the Rajya Sabha. He had been nominated and he subsequently joined the congress. His language, behavior is shocking. I am sure he will seek a public apology from MPs for his statement,” said Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
Samajwadi Party, an ally to the Congress has decided to move privilege motion against Aiyar for offensive comments. “I have no idea how he made this comparison, but its good that he identified people of his own kind. We condemn such statements. SP will move a privilege motion against him,” said Naresh Agarwal, SP leader.
