BJP triumphs in Maharashtra Assembly Polls: Peoples' expectations
After BJP's victory in the Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly Polls, Narendra Modi led party is all set to form a new government in both the states. BJP is planning to form a mini-government in Maharashtra. BJP won 122 seats out of 288 whereas Shiv Sena, their immediate rivals won 63 and INC won 42 seats. In Maharashtra, it is Devendra Fadnavis who has a good chance of being the chief minister of the state.

Before the assembly elections, the alliance between Shiv Sena and BJP had been breached as BJP demanded to contest on 144 seats, which was later reduced to 130 but Shiv Sena remained adamant and offered 119 seats to BJP and 18 seats to four other allies, keeping 151 to contest itself.

BJP has knocked down Shiv Sena off their perch, which seems to have delighted many a residents of the state. Merinews got in touch with some residents to understand about their expectations from BJP, hence onwards.

Raza Murad, Actor

Raza Murad''No party has come up with such great number of seats at the state level. People want change, which made them vote against the ruling party. Even, I would prefer a single party rule rather than supporting a rule of closed associative parties. It was beyond our expectation that Shiv Sena would be swiped out by its ex-alliance. In Maharashtra, Congress stood nowhere, so, I think Congress should take leave as their existence seems nowhere.''

Taruna Khanagwal, Lyricist, Resident of Mumbai

Taruna Khanagwal''See, I support Narendra Modi as he is doing a lot for the nation. Everyone is appreciating his work. Here, in Mumbai, the earlier government were more concerned about the state people only and misbehaved with those who migrated for professional or educational reasons. And this is really very bad. I think if BJP form their government on their own, then I think things will work preferably. Modi's government would not only benefit the people of Maharashtra, but also the migrants.''

Shweta Singh Rana, Model

Shweta Singh Rana''The struggle of non-Marathi people in Mumbai is pretty impossible and everyone is well aware about the 'Gundaraj' of Shiv Sena. Now, our hope is with BJP, as thei positive works are very much visible. PM Narendra Modi launched 'Make in India' campaign (25 September 2014) and 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' (2 October 2014) campaign, which contributed in the economic development and I think he has something in his mind for Mumbai too. The development and growth of this big city is all in BJP's mind. It was Modi's Campaign, which made people keep their place clean and it gave a new identity to Dalit Community also.''
