A suicide car blast in the heart of Peshawar in northwest Pakistan killed at least 41 people and injured scores of others. The blast also sent a strong message that despite the Pakistan and US action, they still possessed the capability to hit.
AT LEAST 41 people are feared killed and hundreds injured, in a blast that went off in a busy market in Peshawar in northwest Pakistan on Friday morning (October 9). The impact of the blast was so powerful that bodies were blown apart and limbs of victims were strewn all over the place in Khyber Bazar area of the city.
Police in Peshawar said that the a suicide bomber carried out the blast in a car which was packed with huge quantities of explosives and artillery ammunitions. Major impact of the blast was taken by a minibus which was carrying passengers nearby and all of whom are suspected to have been killed. Some passer-byes were also caught within the impact zone and were charred beyond recognition.
Government officials confirmed that 41 people were killed in the blast while more than 100 were seriously injured with sharpnels. They, however, reiterated their resolved to continue the fight against terrorism and said that these acts of violence will not stop the ongoing action against radicalism.
