THE TRAPS set up by critics and anti-Akshay Kumar individuals against Blue seem to be more than the traps set up by fishermen on a festive season. But, the final verdict is that it has come out with flying colours and has just expanded the horizon of Indian cinema in the action genre apart from the box-office value and the domain of Akshay Kumar’s kingdom.
Barring a few anonymous low profile individuals, Blue has been given a thumbs-up by the ‘aam junta’ which is evident from the fact that it has got a thunderous response at the box office. This indeed has proved Khiladi King Kumar’s star power and has yet again showed that the suave, dashing heart throb of Bollywood is an icon whose career and mass appeal seem unaffected by a Tasveer or Chandni Chowk to China. Akshay has silenced his critics yet again and displayed the fact that he is too big a superstar to be affected by hits and flops.Sanjay Dutt carries his part well, although he looks very well-fed in some scenes. Akshay Kumar steals the show with a sterling performance. This would easily classify amongst his best works. Zayed Khan is highly competent. This, despite the fact that he's sharing the screen space with two hugely experienced actors
On the whole, Blue has style as well as substance. The film has everything going in its favour, right from its incredible star cast to the superb action scenes to the hitherto unseen marine life to the tremendous hype and hoopla.Box – office response : The Diwali showdown between All The Best, Blue and Main Aurr. Mrs Khanna has turned out to be a one horse race as far as the opening day goes. Blue has recorded a fantastic opening all over be it multiplexes in metroes or small single screen in C centres. The first day business should come out better than the other two films combined.Below are the figures of how Blue fared at the box office at Ahmedabad.Ahmedabad Wide Angle 8.30am HOUSEFULLWide Angle 9.15am HOUSEFULLCinemax RC 8.15am 208/290 72%Cinemax RC 9.55am HOUSEFULLCinemax BA 7.00am 164/232 71%Cinemax BA 8.15am 250/252 99%Cinemax BA 9.15am 221/232 95%Adlabs - 8.40am 300/330 91%
