The tragic death of Pakistani coach Bob Woolmer has scandalized the cricket world. Millions of cricket fans are struck by ambiguity and skepticism. Jamaican police has confirmed that Bob Woolmer was strangulated and murdered. They have taken a suspect in custody and have started interrogating him. The culprit will soon be out in the open as the police are investigating the case on a high priority list. The news has caused much steam and has become a dominant topic of discussion on international circuits. Both government and police are dedicatedly working on the case and are trying to resolve it at the earliest.

The murder further raised the issue of match fixing. Few people have mentioned that the match fixing point could be an underlying cause that led to this tragedy. Match fixing has been a highly controversial topic that has always created a frizzle in the cricket world. Those who back it up are sordid culprits ambushed behind the masters of the game. It is still a mystery as to who the culprit is but the world is waiting for him to be revealed. It convinces us that match fixers have actually been driving the game and it has advanced to such a level where crime has become a sister concern. This is the absolute commercialization of the gentleman game.

Woolmer, a legend, was known to improve the cricket performance for many teams and contributed a lot to cricket in his life span. He was worthy of a more fitting treatment and life. Few of his achievements are listed below and stand as laurels attached to his cricket career:

·After his first class career ended in 84, he coached hockey and cricket teams of High School.
·He went on to coach the Warwickshire County Cricket Club in 1991, the side winning the Natwest Trophy in 1993, and three out of four trophies contested the next year.
·He is credited with making the reverse sweep a more popular shot for batsmen in the 1990s,
·He later attracted attention at the 1999 World Cup by communicating with his captain Hansie Cronje with an earpiece during matches. Which got banned later.
·He was appointed coach of South Africa in 1994. In next five years he scored 73% win for South Africa.

The million-dollar question that hovers our mind is that Woolmer died because of the poor performance of Pakistani cricket team or was he murdered by a freaked-out bookie who had bet a lot of money on Pakistan? One can say that these are the worst days of a wonderful game.

Indeed this has shaken the worldcup mania.. After Woolmer's murder and India's loss and return, the world cup spree has been doomed and none seem to be showing interest in the game for its game spirit
