Boddh Gaya gets up-beat with three-day Budhha Mahotsava
Three-day Buddha Mahotsava (January 17-19) at Boddh Gaya will be marked by an inauguration ceremony by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of Bihar in the presence of state level top officials of Bihar followed by mass prayers and cultural programmes by troupes from Buddhist dominated countries like Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and Bhutan as well as Tibetan Buddhists in India.

The cultural programme will take place at the historical Kalchakra ground in the town which has been gone for no-honking drive in the town to keep the noise pollution level low. The Boddh Gaya Nagar Parishad has notified the place as no horn zone to facilitate peaceful prayer and meditation by the visitors.

There are no fixed dates for this event which is decided by the state government to mark the tourist season with cultural programmes, prayers, Buddhist rituals and meditation. According to the event organizers, the Bhutanese troupe will perform on 19th January as grand finale.

The Boddh Gaya Temple Management Committee has also developed a meditation Park to provide congenial and peaceful atmosphere for the visitors. The Bhutanese troupe would make its presentation on 19 January, the last day of the event.

During the event, the practitioner pray that: May all sentient beings have happiness and its causes; May all sentient beings be free of suffering and its causes, May all sentient beings never be separated from bliss without suffering; May all sentient beings be in equanimity, free of bias, attachment and anger!

Also, guiding principle of Buddhist practice called Middle Path, related to non-extremism or moderation, is stressed. In Buddhism, enlightenment is seen as a state wherein it becomes clear that all dualities apparent in the world are delusory.
