Bollywood breakups of last 20 years
While happy endings are dream come true in Bollywood movies, but breakups always make the better stories. The last 20 years have seen lot of such stories. Let us turn the pages of history books and see how grief has hit our Bollywood stars.

THE WORLD of Bollywood is a magical place, marred with breakups and infidelities. While for most of Bollywood lovers breakups become a part of long list of celebrity trivia, but for some these are just good stories.

The latest celebrity to join this list is Kangana Ranaut. Many of us would not know but the actress was apparently in a relationship with a UK based doctor, Nicholas Lafferty but the relationship did not work out as both were not on the same page. While Lafferty wanted to take the next step in their relationship and get married, the 25-year-old actress wanted to enjoy her just starting career. After Tanu weds Manu, it has been a joyride for the actress, who it seems doesn't want to get off that wagon this fast.

More than often, the breakup of celebrities is not this clean or easy and the dirtier the breakup the better the headline for celebrity magazines. If we take a walk through the memory lane and rewind back 20 years we would realise that each actor has one or more public or private breakups that made it to the tabloids.

Meenakshi Seshadri, the youngest Miss India till date is happily married with two kids living in Texas now but when she was in her hey days in Bollywood, she was the one known as the beauty with brains. She not only had a diva presence on screen but could carry off difficult and gutsy roles like Damini. Many would not recall but she had a fairly clean career graph except for one blemish and that was an affair with Kumar Sanu. While no one accepted the affair, Seshadri never declined the allegation when Sanu's wife filed for divorce and named her as the reason. What broke the alleged relationship is not known but it was known that Sanu was never serious with any of his affairs and never wanted to leave his wife.

The girl who can still make millions of hearts turn wild, Madhuri Dixit was the alleged shoulder to cry for Sanjay Dutt when he lost his first wife. But the actress decided not to be the shoulder to cry, when in 1993 Dutt was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Bombay blasts. Decades after that in 'Koffee with Karan' show, Dutt in a way accepted the affair by saying, “most of the rumours were true.” Aamir Khan, the chocolate boy, who did not divulge the fact that he was married initially as he was struggling as an actor had a very famously known divorce when he left his wife Reena of 15 years.

Sridevi, the wonderful actress had a bucketful of affairs before she entered matrimony with Boney Kapoor. The most notable of these affairs was with Mithun Chakravorty, who had allegedly married the actress at the time. However, when he mentioned the fact in an interview, the actress was livid and left him then and there.

The more recent years have much more interesting and public splits such as the Salman Khan Aishwarya, Vivek Oberoi Aishwarya split, the Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor split as well as Ranbir Kapoor Deepika Padukone split. Salman as we all know has been unlucky in love as right from Sangeeta Bijlani to Katrina Kaif everyone seems to leave him for his abusive behaviour and unruly temper.

While actors suffer public breakups, directors and musicians are also not far behind. Mahesh Bhatt, the most candid and outspoken man of the B'town made a film on his life. 'Arth' saw the struggles of his wife through Shabana Azmi when Bhatt fell head over heels in love with Parveen Babi. Nadeem Shravan's, the hit duo of the 90's who gave us melodious songs such as 'Bas ek Sanam Chahiye,' 'Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin,' 'Pardesi,' etc, partnership came to a grinding halt after the murder of Gulsan Kumar.

Thus as in everyone's life, break up in Bollywood is also due to compatibility issues, mutual agreements, illegitimate affairs and murders and like us even they cannot run from it as grief doesn't discriminate.
