Pawan Diwan, Media and Communication Department stated, “It’s a dubious law that unfortunately gives the election commission very little purview in such cases. While they can instruct private organizations to stay shut and give a paid holidays to their employees to facilitate the voting process, they supposedly have very little authority on events like IIFA, IPL or the bodies controlling them.” He also added, “We can only spread an awareness but cannot postpone events or control such organizations as it doesn't come under violation of model code of conduct.”
