Book review: Bio spirituality, a form of Western Yoga
There is a realm of spirituality within every religion which talks of body, mind and experiences of inner self. Based on Christian spirituality the book titled 'Bio-Spirituality: Focusing as a Way to Grow' proposes a 'western yoga' for self-discovery.

PETER A. Campbell and Edwin M. McMahon, two Jesuit priests, talk of a strain of yoga in Christianity called ‘Bio-spirituality’ that stresses on the development of the human potential of listening to body's inner wisdom for self-development.

In their book "Bio-Spirituality: Focusing as a Way to Grow", the author duo holds that there is an amazing wisdom in human beings to get out of the conditioned and misleading mind and get into the realm of inner-experiencing where change can and may occur.

The book published by the Loyola University Press, Chicago, dwells on the use of the body-oriented therapeutic technique called focusing which leads to developing the potential of accessing our body's inner wisdom. The technique of focusing is advocated by Peter and Edwin as yoga of the West. The technique calls on attending to the meaning that is felt within the body -western way of forging the body-mind unity.

The authors contend that focusing as a dimension of human consciousness can lead to getting connected to cosmic consciousness. Mastering the technique of focusing provides the way to discover the bio-spiritual sense on oneself and provides insights into larger reality of human consciousness evolution, authors convey.

According to the authors of the soft-bound book of 213 pages, the technique of focusing is not denominational and promises experiences of personal unity and wholeness for anyone irrespective his or her religion. Those who are interested in spirituality, it is an interesting book and can provide them yet another technique of spiritual awakening.
