It’s a very simple and lucid love story of a third year MBBS student, Rachit, and his beloved Pari, a final year CA student and their separation. Rachit’s narration always attracts us to go through the chapters one by one as we know, traditionally, Indians are a very good story-teller. The story commences with the enchanting description of the college life where Rachit was doing his MBBS from a medical college in Nepal.
 
He comes to know about ‘different species’ of friends over there. The plot here revolves around Rachit– the protagonist and his true love Pari through ups and downs of love life. The protagonist meets a very beautiful girl in his sister’s marriage party. Because of his shy nature he couldn’t talk to her. After sometime he gets a message from the same girl on Orkut regarding his brother’s help. His younger brother is going for the trip to Nepal. Gradually, we see that their relationship turns into love. They love and care for each other. Plain, simple, straight forward thoughts with correct punctuation along with the first person narrative technique makes this story subjective in tone which connects us very beautifully. The protagonist, Rachit describes his feelings very beautifully to her as it is evident in this dialogue:
 
"See I would always prefer a girl who loves me, she might not be a beauty queen, but should respect my family, and that’s all I need. But yes, one thing that I would ask her for its commitment." (29)
 
The novel can be termed as a memoir describing the accumulation of thought and collection of his old delicate memory where he saves the data of his love in which it is generally believed that doctors are abysmal. The novel accentuates and emphasizes even minor details of the characters and their sense of humor as well as sense of alienation. The novel also focuses on the political activities happening in the neighbor country and Rachit has correlated it with his problems. He describes:
"There were already enough problems in my personal life and political unrest in Nepal added to my worries. The king of Nepal had to give up his throne because the people there revolted against him. The protest was so intense that lakhs of people came out on roads; there was chaos and mismanagement everywhere."(196)
 
There are many events and characters interleaving the book that may leave you wondering as to how the author was going to conclude the story. After 6 years when Rachit completed his MBBS Degree he returned "I tell you seeing my Indian flag waving with pride I was in tears. I saluted that flag as my taxi was entering Indian custom area. It was a feeling I can’t explain in words, something like a current of pride just traveled through my entire body and I was feeling proud to be an Indian”.(80)
 
Still he loves Pari but being unsettled in his carrier he could not take any decision regarding his marriage. Though his sister knows everything about him. Pari loves her parents very much and she does not take any decision against their will. And, finally Rachit informed by her that her parents were not agreeing for the continuation of the relationship and she was confused about their relationship also. The author loves Pari very much and wanted to marry her but destiny has other idea and lastly leaving him crying and alone without any sort of goal and then he comes to know that “by losing her he finds how much he needed her”.
 
It describes the dark emotions and portrays the twist of human psyche in a state of ultimate aggravation. It painfully represents the human emotions – a conflict of sadness, disapproval, and lament. The novel ends in a disposition of alienated hopelessness. But Rachit’s approach towards life has changed now and he has become much more practical but still there are a lot of question that thwarts his medically matured mind:
 
Why she did so? What was the reason that she changed like a season? Why she used to say do marry me when for whole life, she couldn’t carry me? (225)
 
The author confesses in the end that he has written this novel to find an answer to these questions and is just let her know how much he had loved her…The language is simple and not flowery or bombastic, the speed fast and the setting with a different 2012th feel about it. I would recommend the young readers to just read and enjoy this novel since it teaches us also in some respect. The first thing I felt good about the story was that it has natural effect of Indian colour.
