Book Review: Enlightenment through Motherhood
The book "Enlightenment through Motherhood", authored by Astra Niedra and written in a provocative style, describes that motherhood and mothering experiences can be spiritually uplifting and enlightening.

The author through her experiences exposes the gender biased assumptions and principles of the spiritualism rooted in patriarchal societies which have created a lopsided picture of spirituality and enlightenment.

This book puts up a new perspective of spirituality through motherhood since the patriarchal bearing of spirituality wrongfully devalues spiritual aspect of mothering both traditionally and biologically.

Through her well written personal experiences with a tinge of logic, humour and language art put forth that all human beings including women were the precious element of that which is truly divine and sacred in life.

The book provides the practical ways of how motherhood can be the most direct path to higher states of consciousness which can be realised through striving. The book advocates meditation and yoga during pregnancy and mothering periods which can take mothers to consciousness-raising journey.

The 89-page book, the kindle version of which is also available, can be useful to women and girls who have spiritual inclination to life and work as a guide to go beyond just being mothers and raising children as per conventional wisdom to become the contenders for enlightenment through motherhood and mothering.
