Majeed had reportedly paid a middle-man £150,000 in lieu of providing exact details relating to the match in the fourth Test against England at Lord's. Majeed was bailed and asked to appear in front of the police at a future date.Pakistani fast bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were also interrogated by the police in connection with the match fixing row. Reports claim that they were allegedly paid to deliver a certain number of no-balls on Thursday, the opening day of the fourth test. England went on to win the match by an inning and 225 runs on Sunday.
All the three accused Asif, Amir and captain Salman Butt had their phones confiscated by the investigating officials. Apart from confiscating their mobile phones, their rooms were also thoroughly searched along with a team of the International Cricket Council's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit.Touted as one of the most sensational sporting scandals, the scam has invited a lot of disbelief, surprises and mixed blend of emotions from other cricketing stalwarts.
