The research was conducted on 550 people, above the age of 18. It primarily focused on the kind of impact social networking sites had on their relationship. It was surprising to see that about one-third of such people ended their relationships using such sites, including texts and e-mails, as reported by indianexpress.com.
Another major result was that 33% of the people said that they had broken up in a similar manner. The trend is certain to gain momentum as 40% of the respondents said that they might also resort to the same, while ending their relationships. Shrabani, a resident of Gurgaon agreed and said: “Many people these days, due to their careers have long distance relationships. When they want to end such relationships, they do not have enough time and since communication has become so easy, they resort to these technologies for breaking up”.
Such kind of actions are only possible in today’s world as technology has become so advanced, compared to earlier times. The popularity of facebook has made it easier for people to break up with their boyfriends/ girlfriends, as proved by the research.
