Shops in South Australia would be closed on Boxing Day. Paul Caica, the Industrial Relations Minister announced that the shops would be closed on Christmas Day and the day after though it isn't a public holiday. Whereas in other states which includes Victoria & NSW December 26th, boxing day is considered as on of the most important shopping days.
The shops would be open on Sundays December 20 and 27th from 9am instead of 11am. However shops would be closed on Monday December 28th, Proclamation Day. The common feel among Retailers is that consumers should have the liberty to choose when to shop. This kind of restriction literally drives away local business.
While Mr. Caica, has approved additional hours, following representations from retailers to open beyond normal hours. So South Australians can shop freely during these hours.
