A 19-year-old girl killed an armed terrorist with an axe to save her honour. She snatched his AK 47 rifle and fired at other terrorists. They all turned tail in the face of her attack. Rukhsana Kausan is new Rani of Jhansi for all of us.
A 19-YEAR-OLD girl from a village in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir showed an exemplary act of courage and killed a heavily armed ferocious terrorist with an axe in her house. As is the habit of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, they forcibly enter poor hapless villagers houses, ask for hot dinner and take away young girls of the family for the night and gang rape them. The hapless victims have no one to go to for help. Mum is the word for parents of the ravished girls.
That evening the routine story took a different turn. A band of five terrorists of Lashkar-e-Tyeba armed with AK rifles, grenades etc entered the house of one hapless villager who has a teenage daughter. She was asked by her mother to hide under a bed which she did. When the terrorists did not find her they started beating her mother, uncle, brother and father mercilessly.
The teenager named Rukhsana Kauser could not bear her parents being beaten black and blue. She came out of the room, picked up an axe and hit hard the nearest terrorist on the head who fell dead. Ruksana snatched his AK 47 rifle and fired at other terrorists who were completely taken by surprise. Their commander was injured and started bleeding. Rukhsana continued the attack against the remaining terrorists aggressively and with full force rained blows with her axe too, beside firing the rifle with one hand.
Her mien was stern, her blows were full blooded and her gait was that of a woman possessed by a mission. The ferocious terrorists were subdued by a teenage girl fighting in self defence for her own honour and safety of her parents. There was no stopping for her. Unable to face this onslaught of a teenage girl surcharged with determination to save her personal honour as a woman, the terrorists beat a hasty retreat leaving their dead buddy and his weapons behind. Rukhsana Kauser was the Rani of Jhansi that evening and her chivalry and determination to fight to finish is being applauded by the entire country. The school and college girls in Srinagar spoke so highly of the exemplary courage of Rukhsana Kauser, which they said was worth emulating. Men and women across our motherland say that if we have more girls and women like Rukhsana Kauser, terrorism will be eliminated from J&K before long. NNVohra, Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has invited Rukhsana to the Raj Bhavan to honour her. He has asked the DG Police to submit a report, based on which the Governor will recommend Ruksana for an appropriate bravery award. The nation is yet to hear what the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, political heavyweights like Mehbooba Mufti and others of their ilk have to say on the subject. As of now, Rukhsana and her family need adequate police protection and financial support from the state government to pull through. They should be given Ak 47 rifles by the government to defend themselves in case terrorists decide to attack the family later. Defending Rukhsana and her family is the responsibility of the state now and it is hoped that the state government will fulfil its duty in this regard.
