Brazilian Catholic Church furious over the use of Jesus' image for promoting soccer and commerce
Catholic Church followers in Brazil are resenting the FIFA World Cup advertisements and commercial goods that use Jesus statue in a jersey like the one in Italy or Jesus hot-air balloon floating over Melbourne for FIFA-related activities.

In Brazil, the use of the images of the iconic 'Christ the Redeemer' statue for commercial purposes is being seen as a 'crime' and "blasphemous act" by the Catholics in the country.

The digitally altered image of the iconic statue wearing a No. 10 "Italia" jersey, along with the caption "Brazil Awaits Us", being sold in Italy, has been resented widely in Brazil.

Jesus hot-air balloon, floating over Melbourne earlier seen wearing an Australian soccer jersey with the Sportsbet logo, was not liked by the Catholics. It is said that this balloon figure, 53 feet taller than the real statue on top of Rio's Corcovado Mountain, when was put afloat and condemned by the believers.

As we know that 151-foot tall Christ the Redeemer statue is Brazil's famous religious landmark.  Moreover, Brazil is a Catholic nation that takes its faith seriously despite being crazy about soccer.

Christ the Redeemer is a statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil the second largest statue after the Christ the King statue in Poland. It is 30 metres tall on 8 metres pedestal with its arms stretch 28 metres wide deemed an icon Brazil. It is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone, and was constructed between 1922 and 1931.

The statue, seen as s symbol of Brazilian Christianity, weighs 635 tonnes and is located at the peak of the 700-metre Corcovado Mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city.
