Bridge construction stalled due to fear of Maoists
People in general and schoolchildren in particular are facing serious issues because of the absence of a bridge and as such they have to cross either through boats or makeshift rafts. According to officials, no contractor is ready to work on the construction of the bridge due to the fear of Maoists.

PEOPLE LIVING in Lalchar district of Jharkhand have been facing major problems as the construction of the bridge has been stalled due to fear of Maoists, who have always been a huge threat to the internal security of the country. Various kinds of makeshift rafts are being used to cross the river in the absence of a bridge.

Mahesh Singh, Block Chhairman, Manika said in this ANI video, “This is a Maoist area and people are generally scared of constructing anything. Builders do not float tenders here as they are scared of the construction being stalled by the rebels.”

Singh further adds, “If the bridge is constructed on time, people will not have to travel using makeshift rafts or boats. It will ease their burden and cut the travelling time. It will be beneficial for school children and they will also be able to cross with ease.” Such words are not going to work, if they do not set their heart for the completion of the project.

Due to such activities, it is the aam aadmi that suffers. The government needs to put their best feet forward and tackle such problems and not be afraid of the Maoists. Fearing the Maoists will only give them an extra confidence and in the process make them stronger.
