Bring pedagogy to center-stage in elementary education: Teachers' workshop
A workshop of primary teachers was held in Jaipur to understand the concept of pedagogy and its centrality in improving the quality of elementary education. Pedagogy was seen as the science of classroom instruction and leading to learning by diverse students.

Learning is needed to be seen as an innate human potential that can be made to happen by creating the right kind learning conditions and imparting the right kind of learning experiences," said the resource person of the workshop while drawing analogy of occurrence of learning with formation of water from hydrogen when they are taken in the right ratio, right pressure and passage of energy through them.

Pedagogy is based on the assumption that there is diversity among learners and their styles of learning and requires designing of learning experiences in a variety of ways. The processed based methods of learning are a part of pedagogy and so is the way to two-way process of forging relationship between theory and action.

Pedagogy also requires action researching by teachers to make teaching dynamic like science. Also, experimentation in learning processes and innovations in classroom practices were the part of pedagogy, it was asserted.

The workshop recommended that schools may seen as laboratories of learning for process-based education by the elementary teachers and pedagogy should be made central to quality improvement. Both teachers and students need to seen as constructors of knowledge.
