THE CONSERVATIVES in UK are in a win-win situation. The cabin crew of British Airways has decided to go on a three-day strike since Friday (March 19) , which means that Prime Minister Gordon Brown faces labour trouble just before the elections. But the good news is that British Airways has promised to fly more than 60 per cent of the passengers this weekend. A four- day stirke is about to come later in the month. The last flight of British Airways was on Friday that flew to Tel Aviv.
The cabin crew has gone on strike demanding change in pay rolls and working hours. There were talks between Unite Union and the Management, but it failed. British Airways, which flies 70, 000 passengers everyday has promised that at least 49, 000 passenger will take their flights. What has added to the problem is the strike by Rail workers. They are striking against the job loss of 1,500 workers at Network Rail. PM Brown has called for resolving the matter. May 6 is the election day and this strike could prove to be very expensive for the Brown's party. The natives will face both Air and Rail choas this Easter. Hope it gets over soon for the benefit of natives and more importantly the Unite Union.
