The British Airways were planning to bring in extended work hours and cuts in the crew levels for cabin crew. The Unite Union believes that this would spoil the reputation of the British Airways, as customer service quality will go down.
THE PROPOSED chnges made by the British Airways, would be countered with a strike by the Unite Union. The Unite Union represents the cabin crew of the British Airways and although they have unanimously agreed to strike, no particular strike date was announced.
The British Airways were planning to change the working conditions of the cabin crew, bringing in extended work hours and cuts in the crew levels. The Unite Union believes such changes would eventually spoil the reputation of the British Airways brand, since the quality of customer service would get affected by these changes.
A Unite Union representative said the problem with the crew has to be resolved “through negotiation and not through litigation and certainly not through intimidation."
On the other hand, the British Airways have responded to a call for strike by stating in its website "We are currently considering our response to this strike threat and what action we will need to take to minimize disruption to our customers.”
