THE 32 years old UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar announced in his first interview since suffering through a major intestinal infection, on today that he's experienced "a miracle" recovery and is ready to fight again in the summer.
Lesnar, who has been out of action since July due to his illness, made the announcement alongside UFC President Dana White during a morning appearance on ESPN's "Sportscenter." Lesnar said "There are no signs of any problem with my stomach; I had another CT scan on Tuesday just to be sure."
Lesnar last fought by pummeling Mir at UFC 100 in July, recounted a six months ordeal that caused him to pull out of two fights and spend many weeks resting at home and inside hospitals in Canada and Bismarck, N.D. Brock Lesnar told on ESPN, after seeking multiple medical opinions, he opted not to have surgery that would have "pretty much ended his career," instead waiting to see if the illness would clear up on its own. UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar said he spent 11 days in hospital and lost 40 pounds, but has since regained 30 pounds and is looking forward to defending his title this summer.
While an exact date for Lesnar’s return was not announced, UFC President Dana White said Lesnar will return this summer against the winner of the March fight between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin at UFC 111. In recent interviews, two of Lesnar’s coaches — Marty Morgan and Greg Nelson along with UFC legend Randy Couture said they fully expected Lesnar to return to action.
