BSF jawan martyred in cross border attack by Pakistani forces in Arnia sector near Jammu
In another unprovoked cross border attack launched by Pakistan, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier lost his life. The attack took place in Arnia sector near Jammu along the LoC between India and Pakistan. As per reports, the attack took place around 1 am.

The attack was launched on three BSF outposts. The soldier who lost his life has been identified as 32-year-old Brijendra Bahadur Singh. Singh was a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district.

As per reports, Singh was hit by a bullet while he was at the outpost at the time of the attack. He later succumbed to his injuries while being taken to hospital. The Tribune has reported that the bullet hit Singh in the left side of his abdomen. As per a report in the ANI, a civilian has also been injured in the latest attack.

Reports have also suggested that in Arnia sector, the firing is still going on though intermittently with Indian forces giving a befitting reply to the attack.

The cross border attacks by Pakistan have been continuously on the rise with this attack coming less than a week after three Indian soldiers were inured in a cross border attack along the Line of Control (LoC). In retaliatory firing, the BSF killed two Pakistani soldiers on Wednesday.

Till the end of July, more than 280 incidents of cross border attacks have been reported this year. That is a significant increase when compared to previous year’s 228 attacks. The rising cross border attacks signal rising tensions between the two countries with almost ever day witnessing a ceasefire violation. The need for opening diplomatic channels has increased more than ever.
