BSF recovers 10 kg heroin worth Rs 50 crore at Indo-Pak border

The Border Security Force or BSF has recovered 10 kg heroin worth Rs 50 crore rupees at Indo-Pak border. Divulging the information, DIG BSF, Ferozepur Range, Ravi Joseph Loku said 80 battalion of BSF under the leadership of its commanding officer Madan Lal recovered 10 Kg heroine, one Germany made pistol, four cartridges and one magazine from border range near Harbhajan Post.

The Indian smuggler who came to take the delivery of heroin consignment was killed in an encounter with the BSF. He was identified as Kuldip Singh alias Bhoora son of Sulakhan Singh resident of Khem Karan. DIG further said that the value of seized heroin is Rs.50 crore in the international market.

Loku said that one of the Pakistani smugglers who had come to deliver the consignment, was hit with a bullet and on observing through the high-tech instruments, it was noticed that the Pakistani counterparts were dragging the injured smuggler and blood was seen on the road.

Giving the details to the mediapersons, DIG said, “BSF 80 Bn jawans got a secret information that Pakistani smugglers will deliver the heroin consignment via Harbhajan border outpost (BOP) and working on this information, Madan Lal, CO, alerted all the BSF ‘nakas’ and on Monday night at about 1.50am, BSF Alert Force noticed the movement near the Pillar Ni.154/16/17 and BSF jawans challenged the smugglers and Indian smugglers also fired on the BSF jawans.”

“In the counter firing, the Indian smuggler was shot dead and Pakistani smugglers managed to escape under the shadow of crops. Later on searching the area, the BSF recovered heroin packets, Germany made pistol used for firing, magazine and live cartridges.”

BSF is further investigating into the matter to know the links of the smugglers as to where the heroin was to be delivered and who else are involved in this business.
