Burton Group, a research and advisory services firm, has be acquired by fellow IT research firm Gartner. This has enhanced the reputation of Gartner as it would now combine its high level strategy focus with the techie outlook of Burton group.
THE IT analyst firm Burton Group has been bought by Gartner, another such firm, for about $56 million. Gartner announced that the acquisition had taken place on December 30, 2009.
Burton Group is a known research and advisory services firm which provides practical and technically in-depth advice to front line IT professionals. With about 41 research analysts, 40 sales and client service associates, the company had a projected 2009 revenue of $30 million. After Gartner bought the Burton Group, the overall number of firms available to CIOs seeking third party insight into technology decision making options has become even smaller. This is so as there have been many such aquisitions and mergers in the last half of 2009.
With this acquisition, the reputation of Gartner would be enhanced as it would now combine its high level strategy focus with the techie outlook of the Burton group.
