Bus accident in Sawai-Madhopur in Rajasthan kills 26

IN A gruesome accident, 26 people were killed and 35 injured in Sawai-Madhopur district of Rajasthan on Monday morning. The accident happened when a bus collided with a stationary vehicle and fell of Sawai-Madhopur bridge into a dry river bed.

The victims included students of a teacher's training institute and teachers, who were returning from an education trip to Vrindavan. The students were returning to Jhalawar, when the accident took place today morning, 162 kms from Jaipur.

According to the eye-witnesses the impact of the collision was so strong that 21 people were killed on the spot, while 5 of them succumbed to their injuries in hospital. The injured have been shifted to hospital and some of them are reported to be serious.
