Bypolls in Bihar: Lalu-Nitish alliance, Modi magic on test
Bypolls are taking place in Bihar today for the 10 Assembly seats. The bypolls in the state are the first major political event after general elections 2014. Results of the elections will show whether the Modi magic is still in air or the newly formed alliance between Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar has taken over it.

This is also a litmus test of the reunion of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar who are fighting the by-elections along with the Congress. It has to be seen whether this alliance will be able to stop BJP or not.

Out of the 10 Assembly seats, JDU is fighting on 4, RJD on four and the Congress is fighting on 2 seats.

The crucial by-elections to the 10 assembly seats in Bihar is being held in Hajipur, Chhapra, Narkatiaganj, Jale, Raj Nagar (reserved), Mohania (reserved), Parbatta, Mohiuddinagar, Banka and Bhagalpur. A total of 26,42,407 voters will exercise their voting right in 2422 booths and will be deciding the fate of 94 candidates.

The voting has started at 7:00 in the morning and will take place till 6:00 in the evening except for Maoist-hit Hajipur, Parbatta and Banka, where the voting will take place only till 4:00 in the evening. The early morning voting percentage was low as only 8 per cent voting took place till 9 am.

Almost 40 per cent of the district police is deployed for the polls. 1962 police officers, 6000 personnel from CRPF, BMP and state police are on election duty.
